Submission Guidelines  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Submissions must be written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese. We are unable to accept AI-generated works at this time. For poetry translation, please see the specific requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Please use the submissions link in our website, or email it to trasatlantica@trasatlantica.org<\/a>. Write your name and the category in which you wish to participate in the subject line. For example: \u201cEssay_Daniel Santos\u201d or \u201cPoetry_Alejandra D\u00edaz\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Include a brief bio of yourself written in English (between 100 and 200 words). Do not include extended versions of your bio or your CV. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Submit your work in MSWord (file: .docx), Times New Roman 12 pts, paper size A4. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. If applicable to your submission, all notes should appear at the end of the paper, in Times New Roman 10 pts. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. The body of the text should be in double spacing. All bibliographic citations must be in MLA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Scholarly essays <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. We welcome essays that explore topics in poetry with an emphasis on Hispanic, Portuguese, and Latinx culture. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Include an abstract written in both English and the essay\u2019s original language, regardless of the language in which the essay was originally written.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. All notes should appear at the end of the paper, in Times New Roman 10 pts. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Essays must be 15 to 30 pages long, excluding works cited and bibliography.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Reviews<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. We welcome submissions of reviews and chronicles that explore poetry and its different manifestations, such as poetry readings, poetry books, poetry slams, open mic events, visual poetry, performances, poetry\u2019s relationship to AI-generated tools, etc. The deadline for submitting reviews is September 1st<\/sup>, 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2.  Reviews must follow points 1 through 4 of our submission guidelines and have a maximum length of 5 pages (A4). Please contact us directly if your submission exceeds the specified length.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Poetry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        1. We encourage poetry submissions of up to 5 pages (A4). You may submit multiple or single poems, given that your work does not exceed the maximum number of pages. All poetry submissions must follow the submission guidelines in steps 1 through 4. We reserve the right to make the final selection of poems for publication. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Poetry translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          1. Poetry translations must include both the source text in the original language and the translation or target text. The target language must be either Spanish, English, or Portuguese. There are no restrictions on the source language you worked from. All translations must be your original work. Translations performed with AI or automated translation tools are strongly discouraged. Translated poems, including poetic prose, should not exceed 5 pages (A4). Please follow submission guidelines 1 through 4.  Additionally, include the bibliography of the source text, in MLA, and a short bio of the translated poet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Our magazine is open to previously published works, including poetry, only if the authors guarantee no copyright infringement or conflict.
