Wendy Guerra, acclaimed Cuban author of six novels, will lead a free creative writing workshop for LatinX, Hispanic, and Spanish-language lovers and literary enthusiasts in Cleveland from April 19–23, 2026.

this workshop will allow us to learn and improve our writing techniques and to better shape our voices to tell our stories. Once finalized, the stories will be curated and translated into English to produce a bilingual book.
Inspired by the narrative techniques of Gabriel García Márquez, this workshop will guide participants in crafting stories rooted in their own lives in Northern Ohio — their experiences in Cleveland and surrounding communities, and the richness of living a bilingual life. Together, we will explore Spanish as the intimate language of home, love, memory, and food, while building bridges to the broader Cleveland community through English.
